Due to popular demand, we now have this announcements page specifically for judo related announcements and news. Various deadlines and special messages will be featured on this page, so if you are looking for something specific or need some type of instructions, check here. I will continue to updated the front page, but this will serve as various reminders of what is going on in the judo club. The page itself is still unfinished and will be updated as the webmaster's surgery rotation allows.
Shodan Jason Ohana and Sankyu Alison Stanley are getting married on April 13th, 2008. They will be moving to Virginia for her residency in Norfolk and his law school at William and Mary.
Ryan Ficco and Sunil Hari are also graduating from OSU medical school this year and will begin their residencies. Their new locations and details will hopefully be posted soon.
As a topic of much discussion, we are looking to have another judo club social event this year. In the past we have had said events at club member/coaches houses and local Columbus establishments. If you feel the desire to be a host or have a suggestion in the future, please bring it up. While it has been stated that the average judo player can throw but not dance, it still fails to answer whether judo players can bowl, cook, or rock climb.
Photos on our website are constantly being updated. If you ware wondering where some of our photos went, since they recently disappeard, yahoo closed down the old site and we are looking for a new home for our photos. I also have about 60 photos of promostions to pu on the web. If you don't like or don't have a photo of yourself on the website, coordinate with Virgil and the webmistress about getting it taken.
Dues are fifty dollars per quarter. We use them to sponsor our club member entrance fees to tournaments and our quarterly purchase of team clothing. Our most recent clothing item was the red hoodies. If you have suggestions on what to buy or put on our next item, please contact Virgil. Obviously, paying your dues is mandatory.
Yearly membership ($40) to USJA is mandatory to participate in tournaments and receive promotions. Step by step specific instructions will be posted in the future on how to join. Please don't complain about the price. It covers your insurance when you go to a tournament, a place you are going to deliberately get thrown and choked by the competition.
Everyone needs to join the judo club listserve. Our listserve is closed to the public so you must contact Brian Hiestand in order to be invited to our list. This decreases the amount of spam we receive on the listserve.
The Guestbook is still on the front page for people to sign. All old entries were transfered there.
If you have any questions, concerns or comments, please email the webmaster here.
